Post your favorite memory from any Academic Games activity or event. It can be something funny or just anything basically. My favorite memory occurred at the nationals competition at Wheeling. It was one of those nights where anything was possible. After hours of setting in the middle of the chalet and changing the channels of all three TV’s, my mind wandered. I got the idea to take the energizer E squared double A batteries and put them in two remotes. I started to test the remote to see how far one could get away from the TV. Come to find out the remotes would even work through windows. I can’t remember the people that went to watch me. I know Ethan was there. Anyway, I crawled underneath a window of a room that was connected to the main lodge. Let’s just say the concrete really hurt my arms. I finally got a good angle on the TV and saw that the guys, who I didn’t know, were watching “Hollow Man.” I waited till a good intense part of the movie then turned the TV off. One of the guys jumped up and turned it back on. I then switched the channel to Jeopardy. I think they called the front desk to complain but I’m not sure. I then crawled back out and went back to the chalet laughing. I then went around all the rooms of people from Resa II and turned on as many TV’s as I could. This is what happens when hundreds of nerds get together in one location.

Okay, so I realize that I have been doing Academic Games FOREVER, and most of my memories are so old that you'd start to wonder if I should retire soon. . . lol So, my favorite new memory is this:
Last year, we went to Wheeling, WV for Nationals. Some of the county coaches made arrangements for us to visit the State Prison in Moundsville, WV and the Mound across the road on our way to the competition. After everyone hiked down from the mound, we took a few minutes to look through the museum and shop in the little store. The store clerks asked me to help watch the students and make sure that no more than 10 at a time were inside. So, I stood there for quite a while. I remember them being so impressed with us and how polite the kids were. They even complimented Zach on getting the right amount of money. Then, they asked me what we were in town for. I started to explain the whole complex National Academic Games things, and they gave me puzzled looks. One lady said, "You mean, these are smart kids?" The other said, "Really? Our books said that the Academically Challenged group was coming-- not Academic Challenge." The sad part of this story is that it took them nearly 20 minutes to notice the difference.

That is really funny, Alicia. We always would joke that we were academically challenged. Hahaha.
I have a few favorite memories.
My very last year of Academic Games, as many of you know, I tripped over a curb. I dislocated my elbow and had to spend all evening/night in a Charlotte emergency room. I even missed receiving my awards. However, this was the funniest thing that has pretty much ever happened to anyone at a national tournament. I still laugh at it.
Another memory is from Louisiana (or maybe Florida.. I can't remember.) After the awards ceremony.. or the night before.. or something. We were ALL in Mrs. Arms and Mrs. Saunder's room. We were all sooo happy and laughing really loudly because we were playing a funny game. Well, someone called security up to our room and we had to be quiet. I just find that soo funny.
Another is when we all went to Shoney's and the Shoney Bear gave Mrs. Arms a lap dance. That was great. Hah.
There are just too many AWESOME things that happened over the years. I totally miss everything. =(
